On 21 June 2007 KRING Technologies formally completed appraisal for CMMI maturity level 3. The appraisal was an important stop on a long but rewarding journey to continuously mature and professionalize the processes around quality software development.
To support the continuous growth and the ever increasing customer demands, KRING Technologies in early 2006 formalized an ambitious quality strategy. CMMI was a corner stone in the QA strategy, to be used both as an internal quality driver and to document quality standard externally.
Niels H. Leist, Director: “Back in 2006 we set the ambitious goal to achieve CMMI maturity level 3 within one calendar year. Looking back, the resource investment has been significant and the goal was achieved only due to extraordinary support from a very dedicated delivery organization“.
The CMMI Appraisal was never the main goal, and the process up to the actual appraisal has benefited the entire organisation through a strengthened awareness and understanding of the need for processes and other means to achieve total quality.
As an important part of the established processes is to continuously measure and evaluate all software deliveries, KRING today has a valuable metrics database that objectively documents software delivery performances. The metrics database is continuously used to evaluate projects and the effect of ongoing quality measures.
Mikael Munck, CEO: “The CMMI certificate is important in order for us to document that our quality standards are in accordance with the global industry’s best practices – but more importantly, our CMMI initiative has given us means to evaluate and focus quality measures very precisely to the areas that give the highest value to KRING and our clients”.
CMMI (Capability Maturity Model® Integration) is a process improvement approach for implementing efficient processes throughout an entire organization. CMMI maturity will benefit the company with reduced costs, improved delivery schedules and better product quality. |
