Cutting the Wires (CTW) is a UK-based IT&T company and KRING
is associated with CTW for developing a full life cycle telecom
domain application.
KRING is developing a ubiquitous connectivity application for
CTW and the scope of the project involves designing & developing
a single user-interface application, which will facilitate the
use of multiple connectivity profiles and software applications,
like:
- GSM/GPRS, CDMA, UMTS, EDGE Networks
- LAN & WLAN Networks, Public WLAN HotSpots, Dial-Up
Connectivity
- Internet Browsing
- Send/Receive SMS
- E-mail Clients, like Outlook, Outlook Express
- Instant Messaging, VoIP, etc
- CRM Application, to be invoked & managed within the
application, integrated with the mail client, SMS-engine,
etc
- Enterprise & Office Applications, etc
The application is being developed for individual users (Standard
Version) as well as organizations of all sizes (Professional
Version). The Professional version will allow the application
& system administrators to centrally manage the connectivity
profiles of all the application users.
KRING is also developing OEM Version of this application for
individual mobile & WLAN data card manufacturers, where
the application will be fully integrated & customized specifically
to the needs of individual manufacturers.
The developed application is distributed on CD as well as through
a web-based Installer & a web-based Activation module along
with a fully integrated Licensing Application. The web-based
Installer, Activation, Licensing Application & Online Purchase
of Licenses integrated with Cutting the Wires’ Website.
The scope of the project involved design and development of
Graphic user Interface (GUI) controls using GDI+, encryption
routines and device abstraction layer modules; using C# and
Win32 API. The scope of project also involved developing interfaces,
drivers, APIs etc for multiple connectivity profiles like GSM/GPRS
Data cards, Wireless LAN, E-mail, Instant Messaging, etc.
The application supports multiple Data Cards, Wireless LAN cards
and all the major telecom service providers. The development
environment involves C# and ASP.Net, while lower level connectivity
& interfacing is being managed in a C, C++ & VC++ development
environment. We are also using AT Commands/API to interact with
multiple data cards.
The scope of project also involved designing & developing
WebServices for product key release, activation and automatic
updates.
For this ongoing project, KRING is working with industry leaders
& telecom companies like Intel, Nokia, Sierra Wireless,
Sony Ericsson, SingTel, D-Link, LinkSys, Cisco and LightSpeed.
