Introduction

KRING is a venture studio and family of impact funds based in Copenhagen. This Privacy Notice explains how KRING collects, uses and shares personal data from individuals outside of KRING when operating its business and through its websites. The notice complies with the European Union General Data Protection Regulation 2016/679 (GDPR).

What is 'personal data'?

GDPR defines personal data as "any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person" using information directly or indirectly associated with you.

What data do we collect?

As a data controller, KRING collects personal data including:

  • Personal information: name, gender, date of birth, age, signature, nationality, and professional credentials or background

How do we collect your data?

KRING collects most data directly from you when you:

  • Register online through forms for meetings and newsletters/updates, or submit job applications
  • Voluntarily complete surveys or provide feedback on message boards or via email
  • Use or view the website via browser cookies
  • Join employment or internal email lists
  • Join as an advisor and/or investor
  • Attend events such as Digital Tech Summit, friday bars, and online/offline events

KRING also receives data indirectly from:

  • LinkedIn
  • Google Analytics

How will we use your data?

KRING collects data for the following purposes:

Recruitment

KRING collects personal data of potential founders and candidates for portfolio company recruitment. This includes names, contact information, and career experiences from consensually disclosed information or public sources like LinkedIn. Data is used for occasional targeted communications based on legitimate business interests in finding entrepreneurial talent.

Data is stored in TheHub.io applicant system and kept no longer than necessary. For open positions, data is retained until a candidate accepts the job offer, then kept for up to 12 additional months. Similar processes apply for recruiting advisors, venture co-creation partners, and investors.

Events

By attending KRING events including investor meetings and pitches, you permit on-site recordings including video and photography. Materials may be used in marketing or editorial content related to the event. Request exemption by informing event team members or emailing Johan Duus at johan@kring.com.

Websites and email

The website www.kring.com uses cookies to understand preferences and improve experience. Information about site usage is shared with advertising and analytics partners who may combine it with other provided information. Anonymized email readership analytics help gauge and improve products and services.

Opportunities

KRING emails opportunities it believes you may find interesting with KRING, advisors, venture co-creation partners, or supporters.

Employment

Data is processed for employment purposes at KRING or KRING portfolio companies.

How do we share information with third parties?

With your agreement, KRING shares data with authorized third parties including:

  • Third party service providers: Active Campaign, G-suite, Slack, and Typeform deliver services and develop products. This Notice does not apply to third party websites; KRING is not responsible for their content or privacy practices. Review their privacy policies before disclosure.
  • Investors, advisors, venture co-creation partners and supporters: KRING seeks consent before sharing personal data with these parties, all listed on the website.

Sharing of data in other circumstances

KRING may share personal data without explicit consent when: required by law, protecting individual safety, preventing fraud, or complying with valid legal processes, government requests, rules or regulations.

The website is not designed for individuals 16 years or under. KRING does not collect or maintain personal data about anyone 16 or under.

How do we store your data?

KRING values personal data security and implements appropriate technical and organizational measures protecting data from loss, misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. Infrastructure, policies and training ensure:

  • Ongoing confidentiality, integrity, availability and resilience of processing systems and services
  • Timely restoration of availability and access to personal data after physical or technical incidents
  • Regular testing, assessment and evaluation of security measure effectiveness

KRING retains personal data as long as necessary or permitted by applicable national rules including Anti-Money Laundering and Countering Financing of Terrorism legislation. Upon expiration, data is deleted or anonymized from Google Drive and all products and services.

Marketing

KRING provides choices regarding personal data use, particularly marketing. Limited personal data including names and email addresses are collected to communicate with business contacts, build brand awareness, share updates, publicize events, and fulfill general marketing purposes through occasional email communications with minimal privacy impact.

You have the right to stop marketing communications or data sharing with other KRING companies by clicking unsubscribe in emails.

What are your data protection rights?

Every user is entitled to the following rights:

  • The right to access: Request copies of your personal data. KRING may charge an administrative fee.
  • The right to rectification: Request KRING correct inaccurate information or complete incomplete information.
  • The right to erasure: Request that KRING erase your personal data under certain conditions.
  • The right to restrict processing: Request that KRING restrict personal data processing under certain conditions.
  • The right to object to processing: Object to KRING's personal data processing under certain conditions.
  • The right to data portability: Request that KRING transfer collected data to another organization or directly to you under certain conditions.

What are cookies and what is our cookies policy?

Cookies are small text files stored on browser or device hard drives when visiting websites or applications. They remember choices and preferences over time, reducing the need to re-enter information across webpages. KRING uses cookies to track services used, record registration information, record user preferences, and track visited pages, helping understand site usage and improve user experience.

KRING reserves the right to change this Cookie Policy at any time for any reason. Updates are indicated by changing the "Last Updated" date. Changes become effective immediately upon posting and you waive the right to specific notice of each change.

Which cookies do we use and how do we use them?

KRING uses third-party analytical tools including Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel and LinkedIn Analytics to analyze website usage. Information generated through cookies produces reports and insights improving the site over time.

How do I turn off cookies?

Why do we share data outside of the EU/EEA?

KRING may transfer personal data to countries outside the European Economic Area (EEA), for example when third parties have servers outside the EEA. Legal transfers following EU GDPR guidelines ensure secure data protection. Request details on protection given to personal information transferred outside the EEA by emailing the contact address provided.
